Who or What is Custom Landscaping?

Bruce Horka is the owner of Custom Landscaping. Originally from the South Bay area of California, he came to Kauai in 1973 after serving his Tour of Duty in the United States Navy. His service duties included two tours aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence. Like many others, he fell in love with Kauai and it's Aloha spirit and never returned to California.

Bruce now lives in Kapaa with his wife, Rose, and two sons. He has dedicated his abilities to Custom Landscaping and strives to give the best quality service available. He is a "hands on" owner with personal touches - and works closely with all clients.

Custom Landscaping is a full-service landscaping company which includes all phases of landscape from design and construction to maintenance; specializing in commercial accounts, vacation rentals, estate properties to the individual homeowners. Custom Landscaping was established in 1987 and is based out of the Wailua area. ISLAND WIDE SERVICE is available from Haena to Mana.

Custom Landscaping specializes in all phases of landscape from initial visions ideas to finish product reality. We take pride in our work and customer relations. We are available island-wide with maintenance crews out daily. We supply a wide variety of others services too numerous to list. We are a service oriented company - here to service your landscaping needs!

As a landscaping design service we will initially meet with our clients to get the feel of there vision and bring in our ideas of plant material that would work well for them, keeping in mind the long-term maintenance of this property - the area or location, the weather and wind patterns, and carefully decide on landscape optimization for the property while working hand and hand with the owner.

Our landscape construction service is based upon the physical layout of the project, plant material quality and quantity (if available), and the organizational skills in bringing it all to fruit. The finished product - layout, design and final planting - should always reflect the client's vision.

Finally and probably most importantly is our landscaping maintenance service. We maintain or have monthly maintenance programs available to fit different needs for those projects we design and install. Please remember that every installation will look beautiful only with proper maintenance. The two key aspects: installation and maintenance - we always keep the total picture in mind. We also maintain properties not previously installed by us.
